Three Bridges Cobberdogs

Companion, therapy and emotional support dogs

A small, family based breeder of miniature and medium size Australian Cobberdogs based in Scotland established in 2021.

why choose a three bridges cobberdog?

As dog owners we were looking for a breed that was fully health tested, is low-shedding (our daughter has a mild asthma condition) and could be used for therapy work.  The health testing was important as we lost our previous dog to an undiagnosed condition at a young age and didn’t want the family to go through that trauma again.

Thankfully, during our research into what would be the best breed for us we came across the Australian Cobberdog – a breed that has undergone extensive health testing in its development, has a low to non-shedding allergy friendly coat and has a long track record providing emotional, therapy and assistance support.

As breeders, our dogs are genetically screened against the full breed DNA profile for diseases and traits relevant to the Australian Cobberdog.  They also undergo hip and elbow tests before being accepted into the breeding programme.

We breed our Australian Cobberdogs to be companion animals as above all, they are intuitive, always eager to please and genuinely seek a deep connection to people.

Character

Cobberdogs have a wonderful temperament which truly sets it apart from all other breeds.

Coat

The coat of an Australian Cobberdog is low to non-shedding and well suited to those with allergies.

Colours

The Australian Cobberdog comes in many different colours such as black, brown, cream, gold, red and many more.

Size

The Australian Cobberdog comes in 3 sizes which means potential owners can select a pet size that best suits their lifestyle and space.

The Australian Cobberdog

Australian Cobberdogs are the only breed in the world developed purely to be therapy and assistance dogs.  With those qualities it is unsurprising that they make great family companions too.  Highly intelligent, gentle, fun loving and very affectionate, they have all the qualities you would want in a dog, making them the ideal family pet.

They are loving and sociable, easy to train, good with people of all ages, great for people with allergies, easy to care for, very perceptive and friendly with other animals.  A very special characteristic of the Australian Cobberdogs is their unique ability to connect with you. They purposely make and maintain eye contact.

We are grateful to have discovered this breed and thankful to have one of the breed founders, Mellodie from Tegan’s Australian Cobberdogs as our breeding mentor.

Our Puppies

Your puppy comes to you at around 9 weeks old, MDBA registered, vaccinated, microchipped, regularly wormed, vet checked, socialised and with a guarantee for health for all the genetic canine diseases that were screenable for your pup’s parents. (See our Genetic & Health Screening page).

We raise our Australian Cobberdog puppies in line with recognised socialisation programme principles, and to ensure our puppies are as healthy as can be, we test all our dogs with extensive health testing.

We are unable to guarantee the health of our dogs for problems outside of those we test and screen for, after they leave us.  These include improper behavioural management and disease or injury from improper care, such as issues arising from environment and diet.

This is especially important for hip and elbow joints as they continue to form until the puppy is 18-24 months and, apart from genetics, hip and elbow problems can arise from improper nutrition and exercise, and lifestyle stresses.  It is very important therefore that you take responsibility for your part in taking care of your pup’s hips and elbows from the outset.

We love our puppies and the Cobberdog breed, and work hard to carefully match puppies to families, to ensure the best possible outcome for the dog and family. 9 weeks plus is a crucial bonding time for young puppies once they leave their litter mates, so very important for them to start early training. We look for people who want to commit to training their pup and care for their Cobberdogs as part of the family.

Cobberdogs are very intelligent and playful but all puppies can be naughty without proper training and stimulation.  We recommend that you and your puppy go to puppy school with a recognised trainer when age permits so that both of you can learn how to communicate.  Socialisation is key to your pup’s development.

Understanding the full commitment involved with adopting and raising one of our puppies will help make this process satisfying for both you and us.
